A high-level review meeting on the implementation of the Union government’s social welfare and social justice programmes will be held in New Delhi on Monday, September 7, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chairmanship.
The Prime Minister is expected to assess ministry-wise progress, including the performance of ministers and departments. The meeting comes amid speculation that the Union Cabinet could be reshuffled soon.
More than 15 Union ministers, ministers of state and ministers of state with independent charge will attend the meeting with performance reports from their respective ministries.
The review will focus in particular on the functioning and development initiatives of key ministries such as Education, Agriculture, and Social Justice and Empowerment. The Prime Minister will also take stock of the current status of public welfare schemes, whether targets have been met, and individual ministerial performance.
Officials said the exercise is aimed at ensuring government schemes reach people effectively and at strengthening accountability across ministries, with emphasis on execution and impact rather than announcements alone.
