Minister Nirmal Kumar on Friday said that anyone found involved in corruption would not be able to escape, stressing that cases would be pursued only when supported by evidence.
Speaking in Madurai, he said there was no scope for vindictive action against anyone and that “false cases” need not be filed. If evidence exists, he said, legal proceedings would follow.
Referring to an earlier instance, the minister said the Enforcement Directorate had issued a notice to former minister Nehru over allegations related to money being taken for government jobs, and that the notice was backed by evidence.
He added that the ED had submitted materials in court on two occasions, describing several alleged irregularities as part of a “conspiracy,” and said he believed the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption had registered a case based on those submissions.
The minister said he did not know the specific basis of the current action and that the DVAC should clarify it. He also alleged irregularities in 45 tenders in the electricity board, adding that the time period of the alleged acts must be established to prove them in court, and that cases would be registered if public money was misused.
