A blast was reported at the Chinnathambi Pyrotech firecracker unit in Othaiyal village near Sattur in Virudhunagar district on Saturday.
Police said the incident claimed the life of Madasamy, a resident of Meenampatti.
Following the fatal accident, a case has been registered against the sister of Minister Vanni Arasu, according to the report.
