Lucknow: With Uttar Pradesh heading towards Assembly elections expected in February–March next year, the BJP and RSS have already stepped up groundwork to help Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath seek a third term.
However, discontent is brewing within the state government, with several BJP ministers expressing anger over the role of senior IAS officers. Ministers allege that officials respond only to the Chief Minister’s directions and sideline departmental ministers.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio, has reportedly objected to transfers of doctors carried out without his knowledge. He is said to have issued a letter of reprimand to a senior official, but the official allegedly did not respond.
Similar complaints have been raised by other ministers as well. Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has written to the Chief Minister seeking transfers of officials, stating that they are not cooperating.
The issue has gained wider attention after some of these letters circulated on social media, triggering fresh political chatter in Uttar Pradesh over whether the leadership will back ministers or bureaucrats.
