Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay launched a sharp attack on the DMK while replying to the debate on the police department’s grant demands in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Citing the Sarkaria Commission report and an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation report, he levelled a series of allegations against the previous DMK government. Vijay claimed the ED report mentioned evidence of party fund collections ranging from 7.5% to 10% during the 2021–2026 period, and alleged that then Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi were among the direct beneficiaries.
He also criticised the DMK’s public messaging, arguing that wrongdoing occurs where the party is present, and said the party responds to corruption allegations by demanding proof rather than denying wrongdoing.
Vijay said his government would not engage in personal abuse, but would “break” what he called the DMK’s “fake image” and “fake brand” by digging into past records. He further alleged that during 2021–2026, cases against DMK members and supporters were not even registered in several instances, and that FIRs and arrests happened only after opposition pressure.
Stating that his administration was responding through transparency, accountability and action, Vijay said cases had been registered even against ruling party members when allegations arose, with arrests and disciplinary steps taken where necessary.
