HR&CE Minister Ramesh on Monday assured the Tamil Nadu Assembly that the Palani Murugan temple would be upgraded in a way that draws attention across the country.
During the debate, AIADMK MLA Ravi Manoharan said devotees observe vows, carry kavadi and walk long distances to reach Palani, but the town has turned polluted. He urged that Palani be restored as a sacred city.
Responding to the concerns, Minister Ramesh said he had reviewed the temple’s renovation works, annadhanam halls and other essential amenities for pilgrims, with the MLA present during the inspection.
He added that Chief Minister Vijay has instructed officials to develop Palani into a “modern” temple. The minister said the government would complete the works and ensure the shrine is upgraded to a high standard.
