Chennai: School Education Minister Rajmohan on Monday took a swipe at the DMK during a speech in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, referring to an incident that unfolded while the Chief Minister was speaking.
Rajmohan said that members from his side listened to the Chief Minister’s address while seated, while DMK MLAs stood up “out of devotion” and respect. He claimed that the DMK legislators later sat down on the floor, which he described as breaking the dignity of the House.
According to the minister, the legislators then struggled to get up, and the Chief Minister stepped in to help them up by offering a hand. Rajmohan portrayed the episode as a symbolic moment, remarking that it was as if the DMK had been “lifted up” in the Assembly.
He added that such incidents are common in politics, and made the remarks in a sarcastic tone while addressing the House.
