Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly proceedings turned tense after DMK MLAs strongly objected to the Chief Minister Vijay’s speech and repeatedly disrupted the House.
Amid the continued sloganeering, the Speaker ordered the protesting DMK legislators to be removed from the Assembly. During the commotion, AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) remained composed and watched the developments closely.
Speaker Prabhakar publicly praised EPS for maintaining restraint, remarking that he stayed calm even as the situation escalated. The Speaker also commended members of the TVK, saying their silence reflected a good discipline taught by their leader.
In sharp criticism of the DMK, the Speaker said the party’s members appeared to have come trained in ways that lowered the dignity of the Assembly. He added that despite being advised rest by doctors due to low blood pressure, he attended the session, and quipped that the Chief Minister’s conduct during the speech made his blood pressure rise, calling it “treatment” without a doctor.
