Chennai: Opposition leader Udhayanidhi on Monday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Vijay, accusing him of making “baseless” allegations against the DMK during the Assembly debate on police grants.
Speaking to reporters in the Assembly complex, Udhayanidhi said he had raised 15 questions directly to the Chief Minister during the discussion, but claimed none were answered. He alleged that instead, the Chief Minister levelled false charges without producing supporting proof.
Udhayanidhi also criticised the Speaker’s handling of the proceedings, alleging that remarks made by government critics were uploaded into the official records, while his side was not given an opportunity to respond. He said the opposition chose to walk out after hearing the Chief Minister’s full speech.
Escalating his attack, Udhayanidhi alleged that the Chief Minister’s friends, including a person named Vishnu Reddy, had brought state-run mineral resources under their control. He said he would make public the evidence for his claim.
