As the Navaratri and Diwali festive season approaches, airfares on major domestic routes have climbed sharply, with prices on certain travel dates nearly doubling.
According to the report, fares that were around Rs 7,000 on key routes have risen to about Rs 15,000 for travel around the festival period.
During Navaratri, from October 12 to 18, one-way tickets on the Mumbai–Kolkata sector have reportedly gone up to as much as Rs 16,000 per passenger. Typically, this route is priced below Rs 8,000.
Fares on the Delhi–Mumbai route have also increased. Tickets that usually cost around Rs 6,500 are being listed at about Rs 10,000 during the festival months of October and November.
In some cases, direct tickets to major cities are being sold for up to Rs 25,000, reflecting heightened demand during the holiday travel window.
