Chennai: With Ganesh Chaturthi approaching, Hindu Munnani has said it is making arrangements to install Lord Ganesha idols at around 1.5 lakh locations across Tamil Nadu.
According to the organisation’s office-bearers, the plan covers both urban and rural areas. District-level organisers have been given instructions to ensure celebrations are held without causing inconvenience to the public, and to coordinate preparations for immersion processions.
The group also said steps are being taken to avoid materials that could harm the environment, and to place only idols made entirely from natural materials for worship.
In Chennai, idols are expected to be installed at 5,501 locations. Work on making large idols is under way in Ennore, and installations are planned in key areas including Valluvar Kottam, Triplicane, North Chennai and Kottivakkam. The organisation added that a 10-day special vow, marked by tying a protective thread, has already begun.
