Maharashtra Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Munde has suspended the licences of three restaurants, including Govinda’s at the ISKCON Juhu complex in Mumbai, following an inspection on September 9.
Officials said the action was taken after teams led by Munde conducted checks inside the restaurants, including their kitchens, to assess compliance with food safety norms and hygiene standards.
During the inspection, authorities reported finding multiple shortcomings such as poor kitchen hygiene, pest presence, stagnant wastewater and other violations of food safety rules.
The department has directed that the restaurants must remain closed until fresh permission is granted. Officials also warned of strict action if the suspension order is violated.
