The BJP has decided to launch a month-long nationwide outreach programme titled ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (pledge to serve) starting September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The campaign is intended to mark Modi completing 25 years in top executive roles—as Gujarat Chief Minister and later as Prime Minister.
According to the party, Modi served as Gujarat Chief Minister from October 2001 to May 21, 2014, and became Prime Minister after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won the 2014 Lok Sabha election. The NDA also won the 2019 and 2024 elections, after which Modi took oath for a third term.
Speaking at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, party president Nitin Nabin said Modi’s journey from a grassroots worker to Prime Minister has brought “quality changes” in social life and improved livelihoods. He claimed that 25 crore poor families have come out of poverty since the Modi government took office, and said India is now among the world’s fastest-growing major economies.
As part of the programme, September 17 will be observed as ‘Seva Diwas’, with blood donation camps across the country and an evening lamp-lighting event involving beneficiaries of government schemes and BJP workers. The party said a key event will be held on October 7, when Modi completes 25 years in executive leadership.
The BJP also announced district-level activities including walkathons, bike and cycle rallies, school competitions such as drawing and speech contests from Sept 17 to Oct 7, and village-level health camps and awareness drives on government schemes. It will also conduct a ‘Seva First Innovation Challenge’ for youth, students, start-ups and professionals, and organise a cleanliness drive on October 2.
