Chennai recorded a sharp rise in jewellery gold prices on Wednesday (Sept 10), with 22-carat gold climbing by Rs 880 per sovereign.
According to the latest rates, a sovereign (8 grams) of 22-carat jewellery gold is being sold at Rs 1,14,040. The price per gram increased by Rs 110 to Rs 14,255.
The report noted that gold prices in Tamil Nadu have been fluctuating in recent days due to international market conditions.
For comparison, on Sept 8, 22-carat jewellery gold was priced at Rs 14,270 per gram and Rs 1,14,160 per sovereign. Silver was sold at Rs 255 per gram on the same day.
