Revenue Minister Sengottaiyan on Thursday said there would be no hurdles in providing new crop loans to farmers.

Speaking to reporters at the Tiruvarur Collectorate, the minister said the release of water from the Mettur dam was done only after department-level assessment on how much could be supplied for irrigation.

He also noted that conditions could develop for rain and flooding, and reiterated that farmers should not face delays in accessing fresh crop credit.

On the crop-loan waiver announced by the Chief Minister, Sengottaiyan said the subsidy amount would soon reach the concerned cooperative societies.

He added that the government aims to ensure state funds are provided to cooperative societies without delay, and said the earlier practice of spreading allocations over five years after waivers has now been changed.
