The Tamil Nadu government has explained that Chief Minister Vijay’s visit to the United Kingdom is focused on strengthening industrial relationships and helping existing companies expand their operations in the state.
In a statement, the government said that within 100 days of taking charge, the administration has signed investment MoUs worth more than ₹1 lakh crore through an investors’ meet. It added that European multinational companies have proposed projects worth ₹8,491 crore, which are expected to generate 5,690 jobs.
The statement noted that UK-based firms have long had a significant presence in Tamil Nadu across engineering, financial services and technology, with several operating manufacturing units and global capability centres. The visit, it said, is intended to deepen these ties and create opportunities for high-quality employment.
The government also linked the trip to the Chief Minister’s announcement to build a world-class motorsports city. As part of this, the delegation plans to visit leading motorsport infrastructure and learn best practices, including a scheduled visit to the Silverstone motor racing circuit.
The CM-led team departed from Chennai on Wednesday and is set to return on September 17. The delegation includes Public Works Department Minister Aadhav Arjuna, Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority Member-Secretary Meganatha Reddy, Guidance Tamil Nadu Director Deepak Jacob, and other officials.
