Actor Ajith has said he is “very happy” that Vijay has been elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and claimed the new CM is taking steps to encourage motorsports.
Vijay, after assuming office, has undertaken his first overseas trip on an official visit. He is in London and is scheduled to attend the Silverstone car race on September 12 as a special guest, where he will flag off the event.
Speaking in an interview, Ajith said Vijay made time to travel to London at his invitation and to inaugurate the Le Mans Cup car racing series. Ajith noted that the two have been colleagues in the film industry for 34 years.
Ajith added that Vijay is paying close attention to developing the sports sector, with a particular focus on promoting motorsports through various initiatives. He said he hopes motorsports will grow in India and expressed a desire to see races held in Chennai similar to those in London.
