Social Justice Minister Vanniyarasu on Friday said the Tamil Nadu government will soon bring a special law to prevent honour killings in the state.
He made the remarks in Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram district, after paying tribute at the memorial of Immanuel Sekaran along with functionaries of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK).
The minister recalled that he had already informed the State Assembly about plans to enact a separate law to curb honour killings.
He said the proposed legislation would be drafted based on the K.N. Basha report and introduced at the earliest.
Vanniyarasu also said demands raised by Christian converts would be taken to the attention of the Union government.
