Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday said China is prepared to work with BRICS member countries to support efforts aimed at restoring peace in West Asia and the Gulf region.

Speaking at the ongoing BRICS summit in Delhi, Xi said renewed attempts are needed to bring stability back to the region. He noted that the war in West Asia has caused severe losses for people across the area.

Xi argued that the continuing conflict does not serve the common interests of the international community. He urged stronger cooperation to safeguard international peace and stability.

He also said BRICS nations should “stand firmly on the right side of history” and deepen coordination in support of peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf.
