27 fugitives extradited since 2023
Haryana Police said its Special Task Force (STF) has brought back 27 wanted criminals who had fled abroad after committing offences in India. The effort has been under way for the past three years, with teams focusing on fugitives and the networks that support them overseas.
Year-wise break-up and recent case
Haryana IG Satheesh Balan said five fugitives were extradited up to 2024, seven in 2025, and 14 so far this year. He added that a key accused was brought back from the United Arab Emirates in the past year as part of the ongoing operations.
Notices, cancellations and extradition requests
To speed up tracking and deportation, the police said they issued 144 Look Out Circulars, 54 Red Corner Notices and 53 Interpol communications. They also cancelled 93 passports, sent nine provisional arrest requests and 16 extradition requests.
Next steps and wider coordination
Officials said action is under way to detain 12 fugitives currently abroad, with procedures initiated to bring them back to India. A proposal to offer a total reward of Rs 9 lakh for information on four fugitives is under consideration, while the STF is also monitoring bank and crypto-linked transactions to curb illegal money movement and coordinating with police in Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
