By-elections are set to be held on October 6 in the Maduranthakam and Dharapuram Assembly constituencies, with a five-cornered contest expected in both seats.
Both constituencies were earlier won by the AIADMK. In Maduranthakam, Maragatham Kumaravel had won, while Sathyabama had secured victory in Dharapuram.
The bypolls were necessitated after the two MLAs resigned from their posts and later joined TAVEGA, leading to the vacancies in the two constituencies.
