Modi’s message at BRICS

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the second day of the BRICS Summit 2026 said artificial intelligence should not be used as a weapon, and stressed that AI must also be applied to support agriculture.

Supply chains and digital agriculture

Modi said the BRICS logistics and supply chain cooperation framework can help make member countries’ supply chains more reliable and resilient. He also highlighted the BRICS network for digital agriculture, saying it can open up new opportunities for farmers.

Linking tech to farmers’ needs

According to Modi, the initiative aims to align AI, geospatial technologies and digital public infrastructure with the real needs of farmers, so that technology adoption translates into practical benefits on the ground.

Warning against weaponising technology

He cautioned that weaponising technology and critical minerals could hinder collective progress, and said India has emphasised an inclusive approach to technology adoption.

Wider participation in BRICS cooperation

Modi added that India has promoted friendship, partnership and cooperation through the BRICS platform, and said cooperation should not remain limited to governments alone. He called for active participation from entrepreneurs, farmers, researchers, women, youth and ordinary citizens.
