NTK (Naam Tamilar Katchi) has announced its candidates for the by-elections in Madhurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies, stating that the party will contest on its own.
The by-polls were declared after the sitting MLAs from Dharapuram and Madhurantakam, who had earlier won on the AIADMK ticket, resigned and joined the party referred to as TAVEKA. Candidates have already been announced by AIADMK, DMK and TAVEKA, while Communist parties are also in the fray.
NTK chief Seeman said Karthika will contest from Dharapuram and Janakiraman from Madhurantakam.
Janakiraman had contested in the previous Assembly election and lost, but has been given another opportunity. With multiple parties contesting, the two seats are expected to see a five-cornered contest.
Separately, Seeman also announced that Karthik Kumari will be the party’s candidate for the Thattanchavady constituency in Puducherry.
