Trichy MP and MDMK principal secretary Durai Vaiko on Sunday said he has no desire to become a minister in the Tamil Nadu government.

He was speaking at an event in Poongudipatti near Manapparai in Trichy district, where he inaugurated a water purification facility.

During the function, MDMK Trichy South district secretary Tamil Manickam appealed to Chief Minister Vijay to field Durai Vaiko in a by-election and include him in the state Cabinet, citing his performance as an MP.

Responding, Durai Vaiko asked party colleagues not to make such remarks, saying it could create an impression that he had prompted them to speak. He added that such talk was not appropriate in the current political situation.
