Chennai: The Indian Space Research Organisation’s Space Applications Centre (ISRO-SAC) has cautioned that three cyclones could develop over the North Indian Ocean during the Northeast monsoon season, from October to December.
In a research note released by ISRO-SAC’s Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences division, the agency said the expected systems may be unusually intense compared with patterns observed over the past 44 years.
The report warned that such cyclones could lead to severe damage, particularly along coastal belts, and called for advance planning and timely preventive steps.
ISRO-SAC urged coastal residents, the tourism sector and government administrators to prepare early for potential cyclone-related disasters during the season.
