A fresh controversy has erupted in Thoothukudi after Fisheries Department Minister Srinath allegedly draped party-coloured scarves on school students during a public function.
The event, organised by TVK to mark the birth anniversary of freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaranar, was held to distribute welfare assistance. The minister attended and presented benefits to recipients, including students who scored high marks in the Class 10 and Plus Two public examinations.
According to the event schedule, the function was announced to begin at 5 pm. However, Srinath reportedly arrived only around 9 pm, leaving students waiting for more than four hours.
After arriving late, the minister was seen placing scarves in the colours of the TVK party flag on some school students, which has drawn criticism and sparked the latest round of debate.
