Police in Kallakurichi have registered a case against DMK MLA Vasantham Karthikeyan, alleging that he made insulting remarks about Chief Minister Vijay during a party protest.

According to the complaint, the speech at the Kallakurichi demonstration allegedly included derogatory references to the Chief Minister and TVK functionaries, and was said to have the potential to provoke violence. A petition was submitted to the Superintendent of Police’s office by TVK.

The protest was part of statewide demonstrations held by the DMK on September 12. Party members said the Chief Minister’s body language in the Assembly, while referring to corruption allegations during the DMK regime and the MISA-era arrest of DMK leader Stalin, was disrespectful to Stalin’s political sacrifice.

Following the complaint, Kallakurichi police booked Vasantham Karthikeyan under four sections, including allegations of insulting the Chief Minister, using obscene words, and speaking in a manner that could disturb public peace. Cases were also registered against DMK MP Raja and DMK MLA Sekarbabu in connection with the same incident.
