A tragic incident was reported from Belagavi district in Karnataka after a refrigerator reportedly exploded inside a house, triggering a severe fire. Four members of the same family died in the incident, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Gajanan Thamon (65), Roshan Thamon (21), Sharada Thamon (45) and Bharathi Thamon (50). Authorities said the fire spread rapidly following the blast.
Two others—Priya (28) and Ganga (25)—were rescued with serious injuries and have been admitted to hospital, where they are receiving intensive care. Police said the incident occurred at night while the family was asleep.
Investigators suspect an electrical leak may have caused a sudden power surge in the refrigerator, leading to the explosion. Further inquiry is under way to confirm the exact cause.
