Minister Vignesh on Tuesday said the government would not shield anyone involved in wrongdoing, regardless of political affiliation. Speaking to reporters in Dindigul, he asserted that action would be taken even if the accused belonged to his own party.
He said the administration was working on certain legal changes and maintained that the approach would not mirror the previous regime. “We will not look at the party when it comes to mistakes,” he said, adding that several people had already been removed from the party for alleged irregularities.
Referring to complaints linked to TASMAC, the minister urged the public to immediately report instances such as illicit liquor sales in the black market or charging above the prescribed price. He said the government was acting swiftly when such issues came to its notice, including those surfaced through social media videos.
Vignesh also cited a review meeting held on September 8, stating that accountability for TASMAC-related problems in a district would not stop with sales staff or supervisors. He said district managers would also be held responsible and face action.
He added that steps had been initiated from September 1, and said the government and Chief Minister Vijay were not in agreement with the idea that immediate harsh punishments alone could bring change, indicating a phased approach alongside enforcement.
