Saudi Arabia has announced the discovery of uranium-rich ore estimated at 11 million tons, amid a tense war situation in West Asia.
The announcement was made by Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman while attending a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria.
According to the minister, geological studies carried out under the “Jabal Sayid” project in the Madinah region identified uranium-bearing ore along with other rare minerals.
Under an agreement, Saudi mining company Ma’aden and US-based MP Materials are set to work together on extracting and separating the rare minerals.
