PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has cautioned that the DMK’s public standing could be damaged if its leadership does not rein in what he described as unchecked remarks by party members. He said DMK president M.K. Stalin must place firm discipline on the party’s voices, warning that otherwise the party could face a situation where it “cannot raise its head again.”

In the same set of remarks, Anbumani spoke about actor-politician Vijay, saying he extends greetings for all festivals without discrimination. He argued that such outreach would further strengthen Vijay’s public image.

Commenting on women-focused cash assistance, Anbumani claimed that even earlier, when the DMK government provided money, it often ended up being spent through husbands at TASMAC outlets. He said that instead of direct payouts, creating avenues for women to earn from home would be better, as it could build confidence and enable women to question wasteful spending.

He also referred to electoral strategy, saying Vijay is fielding candidates from his own party in certain constituencies because he anticipates bargaining and confusion from alliance partners. Increasing his party’s number of MLAs, he said, would reduce dependence on others.

Anbumani further pointed to sanitation concerns—homes without toilets and unhygienic conditions around public toilets built for general use—and said such ground realities underline the need for strong guidance, which he said the School Education Department should follow.
