Revenue Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Tuesday expressed confidence that DVEK would win the upcoming by-elections in Maduranthakam and Dharapuram constituencies.
Speaking in Gobichettipalayam in Erode district, he said the party’s victory in the bypolls was “assured”. On a question about the two Communist parties contesting separately, he said he could not offer a comment.
The minister also referred to power supply issues, stating that power cuts were being reported in other states as well.
On administrative matters, he said an earlier recruitment process for assistant staff in the Revenue Department had been halted after errors during the previous DMK government, and that the issue would be discussed with the Chief Minister for an appropriate decision. He added that no decisions had been taken yet on implementing biometric systems across government departments.
He further said Rs 10 crore had been allocated for cattle maintenance and for procuring hay and green fodder.
