Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay will launch the ‘Thaimaman Gold Ring’ scheme in Madurai on September 25, according to an official announcement.
The scheme aims to provide a one-gram gold ring to newborns delivered in government hospitals. The state government has earlier said that ₹755.83 crore would be allocated for implementing the programme.
The launch was initially planned for September 15, marking former Chief Minister Annadurai’s birth anniversary. However, it was postponed due to the Chief Minister’s London visit, and the government had indicated that a revised date would be announced soon.
In a related development, Chief Minister Vijay is also scheduled to inaugurate the Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme in Thiruvanmiyur on September 22.
Meanwhile, as election model code of conduct is in force, the gold ring scheme will not be rolled out in Chengalpattu and Tiruppur districts, covering the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies.
