Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said resolving the issues women face throughout their lives is the BJP’s foremost priority.

Addressing an event in West Bengal through video conferencing, Modi said the state had chosen “a new change” on May 4, and that mothers and sisters played a major role in it. He noted that women have faced many hardships and have waited a long time for several things.

He said the government is moving forward with the principle of “less talk, more action,” and claimed that several schemes were launched within days of coming to power in the state.

Modi also said money has been deposited directly into the bank accounts of many women, asserting that there were no cuts and no middlemen. He added that “cutting” money would not happen in West Bengal anymore.

He further said the Centre is taking initiatives aimed at empowering mothers and the public.
