AIADMK has submitted a list of 40 star campaigners to the Election Commission for the upcoming by-elections in Madurantakam and Dharapuram, scheduled for October 6.
The list includes party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, deputy general secretary K.P. Munusamy and treasurer D. Srinivasan, among others.
However, several former ministers—C. Vijayabaskar? Wait not in source—Velumani, Thangamani, Natham Viswanathan and Shanmugam—have been left out. The report says they have been functioning as a separate group due to dissatisfaction with Palaniswami.
In recent days, some party functionaries had urged leaders to set aside differences and work together for the party’s victory in the bypolls. The renewed exclusion of the dissident group has triggered fresh chatter within the party.
