A private agriculture company employee was beaten to death following a dispute near a TASMAC outlet at R. Poocharipatti, near Krishnagiri, police said.
The victim, Arun Kumar (33) from the Nanjanadu area of Ooty in Nilgiris district, was working in Krishnagiri. On Thursday night, he was reportedly drinking with friends near a shop close to the TASMAC outlet.
According to police, an argument broke out when Arun Kumar went to return an empty bottle and collect Rs 10. Karthik (24) and his father Govindaraj (48), who were at the shop, allegedly assaulted him.
Police said Karthik later followed Arun Kumar for about 50 metres from the TASMAC outlet and struck him with a stone, killing him. CCTV visuals of the incident have circulated, drawing attention, as a similar alcohol-related murder had been reported near the same outlet a few years ago.
