Eight people, including three children, died after a car was swept away in floodwaters in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, police said.
The incident occurred in Agar Malwa district when a vehicle reportedly slipped into an overflowing drain amid heavy rain. Police attributed the crash to the driver’s negligence.
The accident took place near the Bagulamukhi temple in Nalchheda. The car was carrying devotees who had travelled from Odisha, and it got trapped in the rainwater-filled drain, officials said.
With help from local residents, police carried out rescue and recovery operations and retrieved the bodies. The victims were sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered for further investigation.
