Madurai event

Annamalai, founder of the organisation “We The Leaders”, said in Madurai that the group is certain to evolve into a political movement. He added that the organisation has already appointed a general secretary.

Criticism of foreign investment trips

In his remarks, Annamalai criticised what he called “unnecessary politics” around taking large delegations abroad. Without naming individuals in a personal sense, he referred to the Chief Minister Vijay’s London visit and said he did not want to focus on that trip specifically.

Focus on local economy

He argued that travelling overseas to attract investment reflects an “old style” of politics, and urged the government to prioritise strengthening the local economy. He said local industrialists are ready and that the government should encourage them, adding that India’s economy is larger than London’s.

Plans across constituencies

Annamalai said he had wanted the organisation to expand across all 234 Assembly constituencies, and claimed the growth is happening faster than he expected. He reiterated that the transition into a political movement would happen very soon, leaving no room for doubt.
