New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convened a two-day consultative meeting, popularly referred to as the ‘Chintan Shivir’, in Delhi on September 23 and 24. All Union ministers are expected to participate.
With Modi’s third term having crossed about two-and-a-half years, the meeting is set to take stock of how ministries have been functioning. Discussions are expected to focus on self-improvement, public outreach and administrative performance.
According to the report, the Prime Minister will also speak about future plans and coordination between ministries. Ministers are expected to submit performance notes to the Prime Minister, described as akin to a “progress report”.
The development has reportedly triggered unease among several ministers, as speculation about a Cabinet reshuffle has resurfaced. While reshuffle talk has been circulating for the past six months without any change so far, the report suggests a reshuffle could follow the meeting, leaving some ministers worried about losing their portfolios.
BJP sources quoted in the report say whether a reshuffle will happen or not is known only to two people — the Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah.
