Claim made during Dharapuram campaign

Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan, while campaigning in Dharapuram in support of a TVK candidate, claimed that “10 to 20” MLAs from the AIADMK are ready to move to TVK.

Attack on EPS’ prediction

In his speech, Sengottaiyan took aim at AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) for saying the government would change within a year. He argued that such a change was unlikely, citing that 25 out of 47 members had voted with them and that seven MLAs had already resigned.

Recalling past election episodes

Sengottaiyan also recounted an earlier episode from the Edappadi constituency, alleging that a candidate projected as a devout person later “took the money and left.” He said the party later fielded another candidate at short notice under the “TV” symbol, who secured 58,000 votes.

Warning of further defections

Saying he was speaking personally, Sengottaiyan reiterated that a group of 10–20 MLAs were “ready,” though he did not specify when they would switch. He warned that continued talk of a quick change in government could trigger more departures.

Allegation about alliance hopes

He further alleged that AIADMK leaders were dreaming of rejoining the DMK alliance, winning big, and returning to power as chief minister.
