New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has admitted for hearing a case filed against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi over alleged irregularities in the inclusion of her name in the electoral roll.
The complaint claims that her name was added to the voter list even before the completion of three years after she obtained Indian citizenship. A case was earlier filed before a metropolitan magistrate court in connection with the allegation.
After examining the matter, the magistrate court had dismissed the petition, stating that there was no sufficient evidence to show that documents were forged by Sonia Gandhi.
Challenging that order, an appeal was moved before the Delhi High Court. The High Court observed that the magistrate court had passed its order without granting adequate time to Delhi investigating officials, and directed that the case be heard afresh.
The matter has been sent back to the magistrate court for reconsideration, and the next hearing has been listed for the 29th.
