TIRUPPUR: Hindu Munnani state president Kadeswara Subramaniam has called on the Tamil Nadu government to take action to investigate alleged irregularities linked to temple properties and to recover encroached lands.
In a statement, he referred to an allegation involving Srirangam temple property, claiming that after the original title deed was said to be missing, a certificate was obtained in Puducherry and used to create forged documents. He alleged that temple land worth about Rs 50 crore was sold using these papers, and that a DMK office now functions at the site.
He further said the organisation is compiling details of similar alleged encroachments across the state involving temple lands, including claims against DMK, DK and their members. He insisted that regardless of who has occupied temple property, it should be recovered through legal proceedings.
Subramaniam also alleged that such encroachments and document forgery could not occur without official support, and demanded action against HR&CE department and other government officials who may have been complicit. He said Hindu Munnani would support any steps taken by the state to investigate complaints and reclaim temple lands.
