Jitendra Mishra on Monday formally assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ayodhya Ram Temple Trust in Ayodhya.
The appointment comes after eight people were arrested in connection with alleged irregularities involving devotees’ offerings at the temple. The trust decided to appoint a new CEO to prevent such incidents in the future.
After a selection process that included applications and interviews, a shortlist of three candidates was finalised. Mishra, a retired Indian Air Force officer who served as an Air Marshal, was chosen for the post.
During the charge-taking ceremony, the trust presented him with a picture of Lord Ram. Mishra had arrived at the Ram Mandir परिसर the previous night, inspected the office being built for him at the Yatri Suvidha Kendra, and offered prayers at the temple.
According to the report, Mishra has 39 years of experience in the Air Force and has flown fighter aircraft. He took charge as head of the Western Air Command in January 2025 and led the “Operation Sindoor” action against Pakistan.
