The Kumbabhishekam at Madurai’s Meenakshi Amman Temple was held on September 17. Following the ceremony, the temple arranged free darshan to help devotees avoid heavy crowding.
Although carrying mobile phones inside the temple is generally prohibited, certain restrictions were relaxed for devotees’ convenience in view of the post-Kumbabhishekam rush.
Amid these relaxations, some devotees reportedly took photos of the Amman and Swami sanctum areas using mobile phones and posted them on social media. The incident has surprised the temple administration.
Temple officials have launched an inquiry to determine how images from the sanctum were captured and circulated despite the ban.
