Food Safety Department officials have issued a notice to the Nachiyappa restaurant operating inside the MLA Hostel in Chennai after an inspection found multiple violations.
According to officials, some food items in use did not carry expiry-date details, and the premises were found to be maintained in an unhygienic manner.
The inspection was carried out on September 20 by a team led by Chennai district designated officer Tamizhselvan. Samples, including paneer, tea powder and other food samples, were collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
The notice directed that the restaurant should not be run until the identified deficiencies are rectified.
Two days earlier, Thousand Lights MLA and Speaker Prabhakar had inspected the hostel restaurant at Triplicane and instructed that hygiene issues be addressed.
