Vellore: Murugan targets DMK over Navodaya schools
Union Minister of State L Murugan on Saturday questioned the DMK’s opposition to Navodaya schools, asking whether party members would be willing to shut down CBSE schools run by them.
Speaking to reporters at the Sripuram Golden Temple premises in Vellore, Murugan said facilities available in CBSE and matriculation schools are also present in Navodaya schools. He asked how many DMK members run CBSE schools and whether they would close those institutions if they insist Navodaya schools are not needed.
Murugan also criticised the Tamil Nadu government over the proposed new Secretariat at Pattinapakkam in Chennai. Referring to a government order issued on September 8, he alleged that Minister Aadhav Arjuna was misleading the public by saying the matter was still under study.
He further said the government should focus on controlling dengue and reducing power shortage, and accused it of continuing to blame the previous administration even after four months in office. Murugan also questioned the circumstances leading to by-elections, calling it deceptive when a candidate resigns after winning and then contests again after joining the ruling party.
On infrastructure, he said work at the Vellore airport has been completed and only the inauguration date remains to be fixed.
