Minister Rajmohan on Monday said the present administration is not one that will “insist” on installing a pen statue on the Chennai seafront, unlike previous rulers. He said the government would listen to public opinion and hold discussions before taking decisions.
Speaking in Chennai, he said the alliance of TVK and the Communist parties is firm and democratic, and that critics are free to raise any criticism against the alliance. He added that such criticism is part of democratic rights.
Rajmohan said the Chief Minister has the authority to reconsider decisions after receiving views from environmental activists, fishermen and local residents. He also noted that no final decision has been taken yet on constructing a new Secretariat.
He further said that if complaints arise against senior officials, immediate action would be taken. Referring to the “Veeramani” issue involving a gem granite owner, he called it “cruel” and questioned the Left parties’ stance on a sexual assault case that he said occurred during DMK rule.
