The Tamil Nadu government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US-headquartered Starbucks, in the presence of Chief Minister Vijay.
According to an official statement, the agreement was signed at the Secretariat in Chennai during an event organised by the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department.
Under the MoU, Starbucks Coffee is set to establish a Global Capability Centre in Chennai, aimed at creating high-paying employment opportunities for around 800 technology professionals.
The government said this would be the first time in India that Starbucks is setting up such a capability centre, with Tamil Nadu chosen as the location.
