DMK leader Udhayanidhi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Tamil Nadu government, alleging that the state was “stuck with a circus troupe” and that governance had turned into a spectacle.
Speaking at a wedding function of a DMK functionary at Velappanchavadi near Thiruvallur, he cited frequent power cuts in Perambur, the Chief Minister’s own constituency, and said residents were forced to stage road blockades almost daily.
He also criticised the conduct of ruling party members in the Assembly, claiming that when questions are raised, they respond by singing, making it feel like a television music show rather than a legislature.
Udhayanidhi further mocked the Chief Minister’s style of speaking, alleging that he delivers “punch dialogues” only after checking camera angles and after the Speaker signals “action.” Referring to a remark about “three files on my table,” he said he had urged the Chief Minister to open them quickly and take action, but had received no response.
He alleged that the government was surviving with the support of those who had won by highlighting the DMK’s record, and claimed that by “buying” AIADMK MLAs, by-elections would be held in Madurantakam and Dharapuram. He urged party workers to continue exposing what he called the government’s “drama and excesses” to the public.
