Hindu Munnani state leader Kadeswarasubramaniam on Tuesday alleged that police have not yet arrested two men who, he claimed, issued a bomb threat in Srivilliputhur during a Vinayagar Chaturthi procession in Virudhunagar district.
Speaking to reporters in Srivilliputhur, he said that when procession participants raised slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai”, two persons from a mosque allegedly told police that a bomb would explode in the town. He criticised the police for “watching” the situation and not making arrests so far.
He warned that if the two are not arrested within 10 days, the organisation would hold a state-level protest. He also alleged that in several places police officials acted against Vinayagar Chaturthi processions, though he said some locations conducted them smoothly.
Kadeswarasubramaniam further claimed that women participated in large numbers this year and said this “rise” among Hindus was not tolerated by terrorists, Naxalites and communists. He added that while police said a case had been registered, delays could allow the accused to secure bail, and demanded immediate arrests.
